Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 12, 2026
TL;DR: ToxiPlant respects your privacy. Our app operates completely offline, requires no registration, and collects absolutely zero personal information, plant scan images, or database query history. Everything stays on your device.
1. Offline-First & On-Device AI Architecture
ToxiPlant is built to run entirely offline on your iOS device. All plant identifications via camera scan or photo library imports are analyzed locally using Apple's Vision and CoreML frameworks. We do not host or operate backend servers, and we never sync, transmit, or sell your data.
2. Device Permissions
Depending on how you use the app, it may request the following permissions, which are processed strictly on-device:
- Camera Access: Used exclusively to let you point your camera at a plant and receive instant toxicity analysis in real-time. The video feed is analyzed frame-by-frame in-memory; no video or image files are ever stored or transmitted.
- Photo Library Access: Used strictly to let you select a plant photo from your device's library for analysis. This is managed via Apple's secure out-of-process PHPicker, meaning ToxiPlant never reads your broader photo library—only the specific image you select.
3. Local Storage
Your saved home plant inventory, customized safe/unsafe lists, and setup preferences (such as language and pets/kids configurations) are stored securely inside the app's sandboxed storage database using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you use iCloud backup, Apple may back up your app containers to your personal iCloud account in accordance with your iOS settings. We have no access to these backups.
4. Analytics and Diagnostics
ToxiPlant does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, trackers, or telemetry systems. We only receive basic, fully anonymized crash reports aggregated by Apple if you have explicitly chosen to share developer diagnostics in your iOS system settings.
5. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page. Because we do not collect email addresses or contact information, we recommend checking this page periodically or reviewing details in our App Store release notes.
