TL;DR: PassPrep respects your privacy. All passport expiration tracking, eligibility quiz responses, check details, and photo processing are executed entirely offline. We collect zero personal data, and nothing ever leaves your device.
1. Offline-First Architecture
PassPrep is built to run entirely offline on your iOS device. All family passport details, eligibility quiz results, checklist progress, and check mockups are processed locally using Apple's SwiftData. We do not operate backend servers, and we never sync, transmit, or sell your data.
2. Device Permissions
The application may ask for the following standard iOS permissions depending on how you use it:
- Camera: Used strictly to help you frame a compliant 2x2 passport photo using our on-screen guidelines. The camera stream is analyzed locally, and the resulting photos are saved directly to your Photo Library or sandbox. We have no access to your camera or photos.
- Notifications: Used strictly to alert you when your family passport expiration milestones are reached (12, 9, 6, and 3 months prior to expiry). These alerts are scheduled locally on your device and do not connect to external servers.
3. Local Storage and Backups
Your profiles, checklist status, and customized settings are stored securely within your device's application sandbox. When you back up your iOS device via Apple iCloud, your data may be backed up to your personal iCloud account in accordance with Apple's standard security policies. We do not have access to these backups.
4. Analytics and Crash Logs
To keep PassPrep stable and bug-free, we utilize Apple's standard diagnostic reporting. If you choose to share diagnostics with developers in your iOS settings, we receive anonymous crash reports that contain no identifying details or personal passport data.
5. Third-Party Links
Our app does not display advertisements or include third-party trackers. Any external links (such as to the official U.S. Department of State website) open in your default browser and are subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any adjustments will be posted here. Since we do not collect contact details, we recommend checking this page periodically or reviewing updates in the App Store release notes.
