Security & Privacy

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 20, 2026

TL;DR: MemoryArc is built from the ground up to protect your personal reflections. All journal entries, stories, mood logs, gratitude entries, and uploaded images are processed and stored exclusively on your local iOS device. We do not collect, transmit, share, or sell your data.

1. Offline-First & Private Storage

MemoryArc operates on a local-first model. All created memories (including titles, stories, moods, places, collections, tags, and attached photos) are saved locally using Apple's native SwiftData framework. We do not maintain cloud databases or remote servers, and we never transmit your private entries over the network.

2. No Account Creation

We do not require accounts, logins, passwords, or emails. You can open the app and start journaling immediately. There is no user profiling or registration data stored by us.

3. No Cloud Sync

MemoryArc does not currently synchronize its database through CloudKit or any other cloud service. Your journal remains on the device where it was created. You can create a portable backup at any time with the built-in JSON export.

4. Data Ownership & Export

You maintain full ownership of your data. MemoryArc provides a built-in export tool allowing you to download all your journal entries in an open JSON format at any time. This ensures you can easily back up, migrate, or view your memory logs outside the app.

5. Zero Third-Party Trackers

MemoryArc is completely free of advertisements, tracking scripts, and external analytic SDKs. We receive anonymous crash reports from Apple only if you have consented to share diagnostics in your global iOS system settings. These reports contain no personal information or journal content.

6. iOS Device Permissions

Depending on how you use MemoryArc, the application may request the following system permissions:

  • Photo Library: Optional. Used to attach personal photos to your memory entries. The selection and rendering of images are handled entirely on-device.
  • Notifications: Optional. Used to schedule local push alerts reminding you to take a quiet moment to reflect or record a memory. These are scheduled locally and do not use a remote push notification server.

7. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to align with new iOS features or App Store guidelines. Any updates will be published on this page. Because we do not collect contact details, we suggest checking this policy occasionally or reading the App Store release notes.
